Hi pglabcomp.

That's a good question.

The reason is practical considerations. If they were 24 bits, they would be 1.5x as big, which would necessitate a bigger drive. (1.5TB instead of 1TB). Could handle some of that with FLAC compression, but then lose compatiblity with some players.

And they would take up 1.5x as much RAM when they are in use. Also slower to manipulate, and stretch/transpose etc., so you'd need a faster machine.

If they were 24bit 96KHz they would be over 3x as big, which would be 3TB.

Have Fun!

I agree and fully understand. Why not offer it as a slightly higher price?:) That way if folks are actually it as a production tool, the files will match up better in front to back and apparent air resolution.

YES PLEASE I would pay the higher price, if you look at the price of hard drives 1T & 2T it is only $25 more.
It would be great to have the option 24bit 48000 WAV and AIFF.
I have to up sample them anyway to record vocals and other instruments with them.

I also agree and would pay the difference.

If you are an audiophile, you already know that it really Begins at 24/BIT 96kHz and rises from that point.
