This is a fun song I wrote last year. I started out with a poem that somebody had sent me with all the new age stuff about dance like nobody is watching and live in the now, etc, etc. I am sure many have seen it. I got someway into a “serious” song and thought I should maybe write a song making a bit of light hearted fun about it all. The result was this song which I wrote in about ½ an hour flat. I have only now got round to recording it now, though.

Real tracks are

RealTracks in style: ~~537:Bass, Acoustic, Pop Sw 165
RealTracks in style: ~~615:Harmonica, Background HeeHaw Sw 165
RealTracks in style: ~~373:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Hank Sw 165
RealTracks in style: ~~608:Guitar, Resonator, Background Hayride Sw 190
RealTracks in song: ~611:Mandolin, Rhythm Fast Chop Sw 190
RealDrums in Song: NashvilleSwing8^1-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride

PS Some of you may have listened to my “Chops ‘n Chips” song that I entered in a radio competition. I used this fancy underwear’s melody and arrangement for the “Chops n’ chips” song.

Fancy underwear

Hi Jo
I enjoyed that.
And as I get older (and I've just retired)I'm starting to wonder just what I'm saving certain things for.
So I'm not.
I can't guarantee I'll get out my fancy underwear if you call, but we'll sure dance like no-ones watching and I might just even "sing" OMG, my wife says - not THAT!!!!
Great song, Jo.
cheers
ian

Very nice and clever song you have here JosieC!

I really enjoyed the lyrics! Lines like “When I dance why do my friends make fun of me” and “My neighbour shuts her doors when I play” hit home because the same thing happens to me

Well I’ve got to go and put on my fancy you-know-what right after I have some pudding.

This is a great fun song. Keep it up!

Great song Jo with fun lyrics. Like the down home sound of the backing tracks.

Singing, dancing, and playing like you don't care....all in fancy undies. Now that's a recipe for a barking good time.

I like it as well, one piece of constructive input to me the vocals are way louder than the music and sit to far on top of them. Dial them back a bit and re-render.

I agree with everything Mario describes above, with the only exception being I don't own any fancy underwear, but I am on my way to Walmart right now. I am sure I'll find something fancy there, maybe some camo fabric.

Just a quick note to say I adjusted the level of the vocals as suggested. I will respond to all the comments later when I have a bit of time

Joanne,

You're best production yet! Vocals are mixed well. The whole thing is mixed well. Great use of that harmonica, btw... good choice of tracks throughout.

I TOTALLY AGREE! This was one very well crafted presentation. Seems to me that you're really starting to get the knack of how to get the best out of Realtracks and DAWs.

All the best,
Noel

Hi All

I finally have some time to reply. I am usually viewing the posts on my iphone. Not such a great environment to post a detailed reply.

Floyd – Thanks for listening and for your encouragement. Keep on keeping on, that is the message that I always get from you and that’s what I’m going to try to do.

Noel – I appreciate your comments. I am still taking a bit of time to get to grips with the program. I am not spending as much time as I would like. I have undertaken long overdue guitar lessons and that is taking up all of my brain power at the moment. I hope to keep going, though and putting out new a song every few weeks.

Guenter – Thanks for listening and commenting. I love your work so your comments mean a lot to me

Rsdean – Thanks also. I love the work that you do with Josie so I also appreciate your comments and your listening to my song.

Best regards

Jo, I'm late to the party again, as usual.

I loved it, as well as your clear and very understandable voice. Few "Pros" sing as clearly and distinctly as you. I also enjoyed the comical theme on this one. More, please.

Hi Don
Thanks for listening. I am busy with another song in the western swing style (coincidence hey?) also with some more comical lyrics. Thanks for your tip about the Medley on the soloist ..I would never have known or thought about that.

I had intended on commenting last week, but got distracted by other things.

I like the "provocative" title, the catchy chorus and the arrangement. Nicely done. I also liked how none of the lines in the opening lyric rhymed.

Sorry for harping on this again, but there are a lot of spots where the vocals seem to be coming in late. I know that there's a ton of stuff to learn with DAWS, but learning how to nudge vocals around will come in real handy. It's great for fixing little timing issues where you really don't feel like singing the vocal over again.

I also think it would do better without the fade at the end. Fades at the end of a song are usually placed there because you want to give the impression that the song continues after the fade. So the fade doesn't really buy you anything here.

Good work!

Thanks David. I have a rather odd problem in Real Band. The ending in band in a box is fine but when I open the file in real band the ending is chopped off. So I have to fade the individual instruments. I am sure it is a setting I am using. I will try and email support about it
