Here is a song i posted as a scratch version over a year ago. I finally got around to re-recording the vocal track, and giving it a good mix down. https://soundcloud.com/robhelms57/coming-home-updated-mix Give 'er a good old fashioned listen if you have the time, and all comments are welcome.

Hi Rob,

I can't remember having heard this before. I must've missed the scratch track you originally posted. This is excellent. What a great melody to support brilliant lyrics. Add to this, your singing sounds great!

Kudos to you all round!

All the best,
Noel

Yeah, I liked it too. But there is room for improvement, like an acoustic guitar track or electric acoustic rhythm guitar track, of some sort, or both. A soft acoustic track would almost seem essential to this song. Good song, great vocals.

Thanks Noel, nice words

PD you might have nailed, a nice soft acoustics maybe 12string. I'll do some experimenting.

Rob,

Nice. I think PD is right... add an acoustic strum to this.. and you'd be done.. the vocals are really well recorded.

Hi Rob,

Very, very nice. That was a great suggestion of Pariahdise's! I thoroughly enjoyed the second version.

Can I suggest you change the link in the original post as it no longer works. I had to go to your site and then find the song (not that it was hard but it might add a layer of difficulty for some people who are not overly familiar with Soundcloud).

All the best,
Noel

Very pretty song Rob. For your daughter? She's lucky to have a father who immortalizes her in song.

The prodigal daughter, eh!
I think we've all had one of those!
A really lovely song and I hope that she has heard it and knows how you feel.
Didnt hear "Mark One" version but there is a balance to this one that is excellent.
cheers
ian

+1 I am thinking maybe the new realtrack (I am away from my BIAB computer now) I think it is called "easy listening acoustic. It should mold this already good track into a more solid backing.

I love the reprise, as this is what I was thinking throughout the song that this would be a great welcome home for any soldier who had been to war . . . and viola! That's what it was. This means your intent had me from the git go.

Later,
