Dropping files is a 2 stage process.
1. Drag and Drop the file from the Instrument Radio Button (e.g. piano) to the "Drop" button at the top left.
2. Drag and Drop the file from the Drop button (which is now green) to your DAW.
From what you are describing, step #2 isn't working. Normally there is no problem with this, but one way to troubleshoot it would be to drag the file from the Drop station (green box) to Finder, and see if that works. From there you can drop it to Logic.
BTW. at the end of step #1, there will be a file already in /Applications/Band-in-a-Box/DragDrop (you normally don't need to deal with that file directly.
