Hey all. Thanks for allowing me to post a link here. I haven't supported any of you yet on this forum as I had only ever been here for technical issue when I got BIAB 2013. Been listening to demos and posts for the past hour. A great great deal of talent here and so much to try and catalog. I really want to learn more about the BIAB as well as the methods you are all using it for. So my current goal is learning country guitar. Bought the Brent Mason guitar star program shortly after the 2013 BIAB was installed. (Bought a ton of DVDs actually) Woodshedding. Been working on super short instrumental 'songs' using real tracks and putting what I have been learning from the guitar star program to use. I bought a new pedal (Ethos OD) to record direct with and did a demo and YouTube vid to showcase the pedal for country guitar. Recorded into Cubase 6.5: A bit of basic processing/verb and compression. This is just demo stuff for the pedal, so wasn't going for top production. Still super happy with BIAB 2013 and real tracks. Really helping me improve my playing and I believe will be pivotal in helping me reach my current goals over the next couple of years. It has been a God send. Thank you!

Thanks you Peter, Floyd and all.
To be clear, this clip is not a fair representation.
As of today, this is my best effort and it is something I wrote and 'worked out' to showcase the Ethos pedal. This is why I have a 6 month, 1 year and 2 year goals for myself.
Still, literally 4 months ago I could not play a country lick worth beans. Genuinely.
100% of my results are from woodshedding and bonafide focus, meditation, visualization and practice. (sound nutty?)All the 'tricks' in this tune I picked up in the past 90 days.
So I have a handful of 'licks' under my belt now and have begun to gain a sense of orientation on the fretboard. That is all. I have begun to be able to hybrid pick more efficiently and that increases speed and opens up the board. I got local gigs to put me under the fire.
And I practice...many hours a day or more if possible. I think many musicians practice less than they think. I time myself with a stop watch.
Yet it is true I am not a 'beginner' only on guitar. In my past I produced many songs/artists etc. always arranging playing bass, using a sequencer, sometimes slide guitar and singing. I have 'musical' knowledge.
I hadn't picked up an instrument in 6 years and then it was only bass. Long story short...a near death situation propelled back into music from studying medicine.
I committed myself when I turned 46 to learn country guitar as a new career path and my results encouraged me that I could do it. I am dedicated to that.
BTW, anyone can improve rapidly with the right mindset. I believe this. I have seen it time and time again in my own life with many thing and I am using every method I know.
BIAB was bought with this improvement goal / career change in mind and it has been a genuine God send. A daily tool for me.
I will post a list of my practice DVDs for anyone interested when I get back this afternoon. Got to run.

Hey everyone...! Thank you for the kind words and warm welcome. I am sincerely grateful. It is rare to find a respectful and supportive music forum. (even harder as we get older LOL). I would be honored to participate to find a new positive forum home. I also want to learn more about my BIAB features from the talent that is here. Thank you again. OK, I am a firm believer in human potential and role modeling. My library is full of 'self-help' and goal achieving type mentors. I am more of hack than it appears (on guitar) but I have a long musical history as an artist and producer to pull from in other areas which is a big support to get help me reach the 'modern' player ability... goodness there are some great players today. Total EMERSION: This is what is needed for me. My new goal has cost me a ton in new gear and instruction  : So here is the list of DVD I have bought and study over the past 4 months as promised: Locally I take lessons form Redd Volkaert when I have the time: Online I have all of the country TrueFire video downloads. If any of you have doubt that you can re-invent yourself as a 'professional' career musician, feel free to PM me. I would be happy to get you the support you need. Ha, ha -- most people have the "dream", but what separates the people who succeed is the "drive" and determiation. 99.9% of the folks just can't do the practice regime that you adhere to (and I put myself in that group). I really enjoyed your playing, it was wonderfully paced. It would be nice to hear a "mixed" version of that, too -- hey, wait I'll try that MP3 file out! Back again -- yea that's better (move the pedal steel more to the left and the harp to the right and it would sound even better).
Excellent playing and I enjoyed the video very much. You can tell you are comfortable with it because you made it look easy.

Thank You. It does look easy and relaxed and that is a total sham. I struggle with each note. But watching myself back on video I thought to myself.."hey that looks pretty natural" maybe I am supposed to be doing this. Ha. Yes, just a mono mix.

This is super. Just awesome.
For anybody interested in the country guitar:
My personal favorite teacher hands down is young Sol Philcox.
Low-Budget home style production but great content. One of the clearest and useful DVD sets I have. Hes a great teacher. Half of my licks are from one 3 set DVD.
Second is the Brent Mason guitar star. Like so many genius players, Brent plays better than he teaches LOL, but this program is different. The format focuses it all and brings his ideas right to the table. I can pick 3 or 4 riffs from this tune inspired straight from that program.
And ANYTHING from Jason Loughlin and the True Fire videos are really excellent. That company has evolved and is doing some really great things for students and teachers.
I cannot read music and I unfortunately cannot read tab as I am dyslexic and I cannot make sense of it (these posts are hard and slow for me also even using spell check!) So I have been using the Nashville number system on EVERYTHING I pull up from BIAB. It is helping me a great deal to think properly about this style.

It's amazing what good instruction and a Positive Mental Attitude will do. Couple it with BIAB and you've got an unbeatable combination. You've obviously got good a grasp on everything. Now all you need is "stick time," as the flyboys say. That is exceptional playing on your part. Imagine where you'll be in five years.
I recognized BIAB as a serious tool later in life than you, and I'd had it for many years before I started using it with a purpose. My playing has improved more in less time than I would have dreamed possible because I was finally able to put together pieces of a whole I'd only imagined for decades. I wonder if I could do with the blues what you have done with country . . .
I am humbled by your demonstration and look forward to anything you have to offer. It won't be long before you'll be a BIAB expert and showing us how it's done!

Totally agreed. BIAB takes out so many excuses and is worth its price in gold if you are willing to be disciplined.

I understand. Interacting with 'accomplished' musicians when you are just learning is not easy to do. With Real Tracks BIAB gives you great musicians at your service. They are willing to play slow, they don't drink and they are always in tune.

Yes. Of course. I haven't actually 'done' anything except commit to learn to 'think' a certain way. That leads to specific inevitable action that leads to certain results. Either way I know the mechanics are up to me. no way around putting in the hours, but the rest we all have massive support for. There is no question. I have seen it with actors, playwrites, authors, businessmen etc. And blues is so much more forgiving on the hands (besides the bends) than country. Lots of space in-between notes to re-phrase and feel and think. With country, you have to learn to use alot of connecting notes... chromatic-ism and keep it fluid. Plus you can be 'slow' and still be unbelievably soulful with the blues. Robben Ford has a new TrueFire series. He is a REALLY good teacher IMO. I have met him and spoken with him many many times here in Austin or at NAMM shows in Anaheim and he is very present and sincere. Even if you don't enjoy Robbens own style, he 'thinks' like a master and help you think correctly.
