Used to be a Sonar user but lately find myself using RealBand more and more....seems the workflow just works a bit better for me. So my question is, does Power Tracks Pro offer anything more than RealBand...its hard to tell from the descriptions here on the PG website. Would appreciate your insight as to whether I should buy Power Tracks.

There's no appreciable difference. For me, having a separate instillation of Power Tracks is handy though I recognize that Real Band does almost all the same work. I run BiaB/RB on my laptop so I can use it to compose or record on the fly and then usually save it as a sequence file and take it over to PT on my dedicated 'studio' computer for finishing.

For my live show I now build all of my songs with RB but I use PT for playing them live.It has less stuff in the tool bars areas and I get more real estate for displaying chords, lyrics & 3 audio tracks.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like I should just hold where I am and continue using RealBand rather than purchasing Power Tracks. Hmmmm....now I have a few extra bucks to spend on some new plug-ins!

I own sonar, and Reaper, and another Program Multitrackstudio (best pure DAW on the market) but i find i do most of my work right there in Realband. I have Powertracks, and as John said it is a great light weight program for tracking and even live work. But it does nothing RB doesn't do, and RB does things it can't. actually RB is Powertracks with a melding of BiaB in it for track generation.

Thanks Robh, I looked at it a few times and just can't justify it over RB. On the other hand, just got an email from Calkwalk with an offer to upgrade from X1 to X2 for $99...wonder if that would be a good choice?

Have sonar X1 and I never use it. I do use RB constantly. MTS is one of those programs that if you just look at it, it won't impress. Then once you use it you start to learn that it simply does thing easier, faster, and most importantly far far more stable than other DAWs.

It is a very feature rich DAW, not a generation tool like RB, but where it excels is in mixing and especially mastering.

MTS and RB are my 1 2 punch DAWs.

Do either or both RealBand and PowerTracks support MFX, MIDI plugins? If so, how are they accessed?

Robh, what is the full name of MTS?

Thanks.
