If you are looking for free you can DL the SFZ+Professional http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sfz/

This loads soundfonts and there are a ton of them out there for free, including some good GM ones.

Although this is older technology some people still use soundfonts quite effectively.

A word of caution there is a short learning curve with this software on how to set it up and to load the soundfonts.

I can not say if this is better than Coyote Forte as I have never used it. However I did spend many years with soundfonts. Today I’m using much better sounds but of course that comes with an increase in cost.
