I have the newest 2013 BIAB Mac. I am using a file I generated previously and trying to get the best sounds as well as put in some variations in different choruses. After I get it exactly how I want it, every time I try to save the changes, quit BIAB, then restart, the file loses the chorus variations. I have tried Save As and Save Song with Patches, but even though they write new files, no chorus variations are saved.
Example:
on 4 bar intro I have piano soloing. On bar 5 I set Soloist to Mute (all Choruses). The next time I open the file, there is piano soloing throughout the tune.

Is there any way to save Bar Settings made to specific choruses other than rendering an audio file?

I have recently been adding melody intros. to my song library.
In doing so, when the changes are not saved it has been "operator error"
Most of the time I neglect to unfreeze the track I am working on or to freeze
it when done. My project is simpler than your's in that I am only recording an eight bar
Section and the muting for the remainder of the song.

Are you using the Bar Settings dialog (F5)? All of those settings are saved with your song. Is your piano Soloist a RealTracks or MIDI soloist? If it's RealTracks, perhaps it is on a different track (other than the Soloist track)?

What other variations are you talking about - if you are editing the actual notation on tracks other than the Melody or Soloist track, you will lose those changes unless you freeze the track.

Andrew,

I don't know what I did differently this time, but I got my song to save with all the Bar Settings!!

I have been using the F5 dialog, and my piano Soloist is RealTracks.

Here's what I have:
36 bar song with a 4 bar intro with piano Solo. The changes on the first 36 are slightly different, so I copied them and have the song repeating from bar 41 to 76 six times. On the fourth chorus, I have the piano solo. On the fifth chorus I change the RealDrums to trading fours, and I mute the bass and piano every other four bars. On the sixth chorus I reset the RealDrums to JazzBrushesSticks#1

I have all tracks except RealDrums frozen. (Unfreezing RealDrums is the one thing I know I've done differently. Could that have made it easier for BIAB to save correctly?) Before, when I would save the file, quit BIAB,then re-open the file, sometimes the only track that would play would be the Soloist--no drums, bass, or piano.

Thanks for the details. I tested it out using a song similar to that, and it is working with or without frozen drums in my testing, so I'm not sure what happened. A couple of tips...

- When using the Bar Settings dialog and applying changes to specific choruses, FIRST select the chorus from the drop-down menu, and THEN select the volume change you want.

- If you Mute an instrument in a specific chorus, remember to set it "back to normal" later in the song.

- If you make bar settings changes to an instrument that is frozen, right-click on the track and select Re-generate track, otherwise it won't play with your changes.

- Another way of generating a solo for a specific range of bars is to have your Solo on the Soloist track, and use the "Custom" solo mode option in the Soloist dialog.
