Many replies, many options. What exactly do you want to do? Are you just looking to replace the basic sounds of your computer, or do you want to do recording? Is this going to be a laptop, desktop, etc.

If we have a bit more understand of your requirements, it makes it a little easier to give you a good solution. Hardware may be the answer, the Ketron SD2 was mentioned as one alternative, but that's kind of a 'stay in one place, or set up for a gig' type of answer.
