Hi Dave,

Don't worry about those two files, if BIAB can't find them when it starts up, it will create new ones.

The fact that your settings are not being saved suggests that for some reason, Windows is not properly seeing G:\bb as your program's directory. If I were experiencing this problem, what I'd do is to re-install BIAB with the 'Run from USB drive' option. To do that, below are the steps I'd follow. (I appreciate that you're a long-time user and so the below is definitely overkill. The reason I'm including it is because the more detailed information may be useful to someone less experienced than yourself. For your own purposes, please select the bits that are useful.)

My re-installation process ...

1. Plug in the USB drive but DO NOT start BIAB.

2. Navigate to the USB drive using My Computer or Windows Explorer. Double-click on the file "Setup.exe" (1) to start the installation process.

3. When the screen "Welcome to the PG Music hard drive setup up wizard" pops up, choose "Next".

4. If an "Information" screen now pops up like in the image below, simply choose "Next".

5. When the "Select Components" screen appears, I'd choose "Full Installation" (1) and then just leave the default checkboxes selected (2). Select "Next".

6. Wait while BIAB prepares the computer for the installation. (The "Initializing Band In A Box Setup" screen will appear and indicate that things are happening.)

7. When the below screen appears, click "Next".

8. When the license agreement appears, select "I accept the agreement". Choose "Next".

9. Another "Information" screen appears that explains about the different options. Select "Next".

10. When the "Setup type" box appears, select the top option to "Run BIAB directly from the USB drive". Select "Next". The program will install.

11. When the "Hi-Q Instruments Setup" pops up, select "Next" and install them.

12. When the "Sampletank Setup" appears, select "Next" and install it.

13. After installation is complete, look for the BIAB icon on the Desktop. Right-click on it and select "Properties" from the menu that pops up. Double-check that the "Target" (1) and the "Start in" (2) are listed as shown below.

When I'm satisfied that I've methodically worked through all the above, I'd start up BIAB using the icon and keep my fingers crossed that it will work.

Hope this advice is useful,
Noel
