My approach would be....

EASY WAY FIRST...
If you like the recording pretty much as it is, it might be easier simply to read it into RB as a track. You can then use the ACW to determine the tempo. This would be better because RB sets decimal values for the tempo whereas BIAB only uses integers. Once you have the tempo set, you can easily add extra instruments. Lastly, you can combine these additions with the original track in a single track.

IF THE ABOVE DIDN'T WORK...
I'd do exactly what you suggest although I'd probably end up using RB because it's a bit easier to work with WAV files in.
