Wow Peter I never knew that tip.
I gave it a try and there are a few issues: ( at least on my win 7 64 bit machine)

From a cold start it does not work.
Once the MIDI Chord detection window is open and remains open it works (of course)
It works (kinda) after the window is closed. ( it usually just inserts the last recognized chord from when the window is open) IE the same chord you would get from a (Shift+Enter)

I got it to work as you said 1 out of 6 tries/reboots.
(I look for a failure pattern but have not nailed it down yet other than the MIDI Chord detection window has not cached the last played chord when it is reopened )


On a very similar note, I have always wanted (and asked) for a hot key on the MIDI Chord detection window Menu (like Shift +C) to allow a user friendly way to opened it while entering chords. If you are see the same issue as I have seen please consider adding the hot key on the software patch.
