What we don't yet know is, are there other RealTracks in your song, and do you hear them playing?

If so, then I suggest Opt., Return to Factory Settings. And, volume control and muting applies to RealTracks, too, and you need to check those.

If not, and this is supposed to be just a guitar track solo playing, then we need more info on your soundcard, and whether you hear can audio from other music programs.

I really didn't think anything could be related to the soundcard as I can hear stuff like from a CD, YouTube, Netflix, BIAB, everything. But I have to add that, it could possibly be that BIAB is just another casualty in a string of problems I've had since the recent computer virus I've had to deal with.

For starters, playing around with BIAB last night I discovered that there's more to this than I thought. Thus MY memory can't be blamed as much. Hopefully, this isn't TOO serious. Following is the complete story.

About a week ago I got a virus which messed up more of my files than I care to attempt to fix. So I'll be reinstalling XP sometime soon. But not TOO soon as I still can do the vast majority of the things I want to on the computer without a problem. One of the "problems" I had was that I no longer had any SOUND. But with the help of Google Search it was a quick fix to go into my "WINDOWS MIXER" and turn up the volume (was set to zero) and uncheck "MUTE" (it was checked). Both of which, apparently, were the result of the virus.

On to BIAB.

Prior to the virus, all I used to do, to make changes to a selected musical style, was to RIGHT-CLICK on an instrument (the ones at the top) and select "ADD/REMOVE REALTRACKS" and the change would result immediately after clicking on the play button. (But, coincidentally, another problem I have, since the virus, is that I can no longer see a single program that I have installed on my computer in the "ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS" box (that you get into after clicking on "My Computer" in Windows. I actually had to install an uninstaller program in order to see them and, also, to be able to uninstall some.)

Anyhow, last night I was playing with BIAB and noticed that, after I selected a particular "STYLE" of music, I was able to RIGHT CLICK on the "Drums" and change the drum style. (I have to add that sometimes I now get a message saying "Beat Map Stretcher was unable to load in the WAV file". (What does THAT mean???) But I've found that absolutely NO "RealTracks" seem to get added! Indeed, not a single change occurs for any of the "Bass, Drums, Guitar, Strings, Melody, Soloist" instrument options after trying to add a "RealTrack" to ANY of the instruments selected. And, I'm doing precisely what I used to. Right-Clicking and selecting. So this is more serious than just not hearing the guitar solo as I initially thought. Also, now, when I choose a different music style, sometimes all I can hear are the DRUMS in it but NO OTHER INSTRUMENTS! (Are they all "RealTracks"?) That is particularly annoying and it happens more than I care to count. Obviously, the "RealDrums" are working but not any of the "RealTracks"!

Also, for the heck of it, I did go and check "Reset to factory setting" but didn't notice any change.

Frankly, I don't know how a virus could have changed anything in BIAB because I have it installed on an external HD (Drive "E") and it was Drive "C" that was infected. So I'm thinking it's not that, but, heck, anything is possible I guess.

I'm thinking a new Windows XP install might help but maybe that's not the problem?

P.S. I have BIAB 2013, "UltraPak" installed.
