Hey folks,

Just tried my first effort using BIAB 2013. Still learning the nuances. But, I could not resist when I cam across this style. Anyway, the title can be taken either of two ways. I have been out of circuit for a while, hence "Where You Been?" Or, I have been stuck under a bunch of office supplies and just coming out.

Anyway, the song can be found by going to the link in the signature below. Let me know what you think. Thanks, in advance, for taking the time ti listen!

Love the guitar solo as once again it proves that sometime less is indeed more.

Thanks gang for all your kind words.

Danny, you are very right. My tendency is to do MORE. But, I kept sensing to pull back. The BIAB style has a very nice keyboard syncopation. Where if MORE was added it would have trampled all over the part. That is what made that particular style a lot of fun to write and record.

It has been three years since I updated BIAB. Thus far, I am very pleased with the updates. Although I still have not toyed around with the Super MIDI files yet.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen.

Cheers!

Hey Rick,

Some nice guitar work! Great mix as well. I liked how you went from the clean to dirty tone.

Really nice guitar work. I also like the transition in guitar tones. That was pretty seamless.

You might consider going out on the sax. My ears sure expected it but regardless it's a really nice track.

Peace,

Ian

I was finally able to listen to this! (Every time I had a spare couple of minutes to give it a listen, I only had my iPhone, and it wouldn't play the song.)

I'm glad I didn't miss this one. Very nice work, RickeG! All been said. Nice guitar work, and I agree the transition of the guitars made for a nice change.

Enjoyed it!

Steve

Thanks again folks!

Ian, you and I think alike in that I wanted to close the last couple of measures with the sax sort of to bookend the tune. However, BIAB would not generate anything that moved me to insert there.

Greg, being I cannot sing, I like to use the guitar as if it were my voice. There have been many times in my songs where the guitar sound will change as if to imply a vocalist change in a duet. I always liked the Temps' Eddie & David. One had the sweet voice. While the other had the raw, raspy voice. Yet, they made great music together.

Thanks Floyd. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to the songs. Thanks to many of the BIAB experts that have taught me the concept of mixing and blending. I am beginning to enjoy and appreciate the art of engineering more and more these days.

Cheers!

Smooth guitar tone(s) and nicely mixed track. Nice change of mood with the guitar sounds. Cool playing, for sure.
