Yes, if Windows Media Player can't play its own WMA files, that indicates a problem, since Bsnd-in-a-Box requires functions in Windows that are the same ones that Windows Media Player uses, to decode the WMA files.

Have you called our tech support dep't. I'd recommend a call Monday-Friday 9am-5pm PST and speak with Rob. He can get access to your machine (with your permission of course), and see if he can fix it.
