Hi Marc - I find this version much more engaging - made me feel like I wanted to follow it along to see what was coming next. The voice seems to have its own space and is not fighting the organ. It will be interesting to hear what your drumming pal will bring to the table. Good work.

Thanks for sharing Marc. Cheers

Your best effort to date. Keep asking questions, keep refining. You're getting there.

THanks Swannie, Ian and Rys. YOur comments have cheered me up no end (I'm temporarily sidelined from most activities with a painful sciatic nerve triggered by a dodgy L5-S1 - now there's a code number that even Mac may not know, but he probably does!)
BUt this new mix would never have seen the light of day without the attentive, constructive and clear guidance of the forum, so thanks to all.

NOw let me just rustle up that drummer boy...

This is a very rough mix I presume. Vocals are way out front and drums are lost in there somewhere.
Not sure where you're headed here but I'm wondering.
Needs some 'pro' care in my opinion - may be enough here to get a good mix - hard to tell.

Sorry I’m late to the game on this one.

Marc, this is a very good song. I do believe that the drums should be more up front. Bring up the drums and remix. You have a winner here.

PS – I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Interesting song, no it's not blues, but I think whoever said movie soundtrack was pretty right on. It had a kind of treadmill in time kind of quality that was appealing. I'm not sure drums would add alot - well I just don't think it needs drive - but some spacey drumming fills could add variety. Good luck with your project.

I did not read "all of the replies above so excuse me if I am a bit repetitious . . . I did read a few responses about forgetting about trying to fit the tune into a particular genre and I am 100% on board there, as while the tune has a "I Put A Spell On You" vibe, the vocal is anything but the blues. But that does not mean I would change anything because it works as it is. Re: "A pal who is a drummer" why not plugging in some real drums?

Bottom-line is IMHO you have come up with a very haunting melody, interesting lyric, and interesting instrument choice combined with a recognizable chord progression. This makes for a solid package.

PS: Marc, other than the absence of maybe "a touch of cowbell " I can't find anything I'd change.

Later,

THanks to all of your for time and constructively critical suggestions.

I'll think about the cowbell!

I'm very low-tech (and old tech) when it comes to PG Music's esteemed products, on the basis that if it ain't broke, why fix/upgrade?? (PTPA 11 and b-i-a-b 7 point something) so no real sounds on my set.

My drummer pal lives literally 2 doors away so I'll try and get him on board.

Maybe I haven't played my last card on this one...

Marc,

Sorry I didn't get to this one earlier.
I like the song: it's well written and has a nice feel to it.
Though it might not be finished as is, it definatly has a lot of potential. The drummer could contribute a great deal.
Keep on polishing; the song is well worth it!
