Hello friends !:)

I was experimenting with some nice chord- (or more rightly)
noteprogressions for to sing in a duet with a good friend of mine
and in the process I came to build a tune around that theme.
As I said this is not the final word regarding the tune, as my
buddy was on Ireland and is not coming back before tuesday so I had
to sing both the harmony and leadparts to the tune. I would not mind
having some constructive ideas from you guys out there, but no use
overdoing it as I do not have the means to respond to any greater challenge (lol) smile

Hi Dani,

This song fits perfectly to the European weather.
Very uplifting.
You can leave your friend in Ireland for some time, you did
a good job on the harmonies.
Enjoyed listening.

I like the smooth sound of this. Nice ...

It sounds a bit too "happy" for a rainy day song..... just my personal observation.

I would have a serious look at the FX you used on the vocals. Rarely does a heavily effected vocal work out well. I couldn't quite put my finger on the FX you used.... whether it is excessive layering or some sort of phaser or something else totally. To me it was too distracting.... I focused on the sound of the vocal rather than the lyric and song.

Indulge me and bare with me a minute. I spend a lot of time helping people with software in another forum, and one of the common issues I see with some recordings is where the person is not totally secure with the sound of their own voice and tend to try to compensate with FX on the vocal. Generally it is a mistake that detracts from the quality of what is really a good song and a good vocal performance. (As is the case here with your song...since I do believe 100% that your voice suits this well)

Generally I will record 3 main vocal tracks. I select one as the lead and run it centered. The other 2 are panned L/R and down to the point you can barely hear them soloed. They only add a subconscious ambiance. For FX on the voice... the only thing I recommend is some light reverb and perhaps EQ with high shelving and very light compression. Nothing else. Of course this is how I do it and is merely a suggestion that you might wish to consider and experiment with.

Good song.

Hi,Guenter

(lol) Yes, I think you are right, it
really describes our European weather
quite well (lol) but that was unintentional
in a way. The words came out of the repetitiveness !:)
Thank you for your kind comments !:)

Hi, Herb !

Thank you for your kind and constructive
comments. I will take note of your suggestions
and try to apply them in the future. On this recording
I have only one track for the lead and one for the
harmony part. I have used very little fx in the form of
some light reverb and some even lighter delay on both
tracks. Some chorus and compression also added.
I am thankful for your good advice and I will rethink
my whole concept of recording henceforth !:)
Regarding the mood of the song I can only add that
IMO it is more of a happy song regardless of the rain
and the fact that I felt alone, after all there will always be
blue skies after the rain !(lol) !

Cheers
Dani

Very enjoyable, and for what it's worth I can be happy in the rain also. Makes people look at me kinda of stangely but it does not bother me.

Dani,

I enjoyed this as well. I also kinda liked the FX on the vocals, thought it gave them a sort of "airy" sound that worked well in the song.

Nice Job!

Nice song! smile

I wasn't expect the bridge to supply so much detail toward the end, and it did a good job balancing things out just where I was expecting the song to end.

Hi, David

It warms my old heart
that you liked this little
tune that in fact was an
experiment from the beginning !
I pondered for a time if I should sing
some additional voices on this but
stopped short this time !:)

Cheers
