Hi Mac, hi Stan,

thanks a lot for your quick replies.
I hit the SEQ button and checked. Upon import there are 5 tracks, for each part one track. Thus, it looks like I deal with a type 1 midi. All tracks were set to play and display. When playing individual tracks I noticed that track 4, though playing, does not show any notes in the leadsheet. Track 5 in turn displays only some of the notes it is playing. I guess, contrary to what I thought before the main problem is the display of notes rather than their playing.
I still have to look at the midi channels.
I checked a test 5-part midi I quickly wrote in Notation composer and for comparison in MuseScore (just a simple little 8-bar piece). Import from both sources worked fine. All notes were there and were being played. So the problem might be the complexity of a midi.
I will also try Real Band. I actually haven't used it before.

My final goal is the following: Take a Jazz standard; use BiaB to input the chord changes and to get an accompaniment to play along with my clarinet or saxophone (I have been doing this for years); add an 4 or 5 part arrangement of a Jazz standard theme by importing midi (BiaB sequencer part is not advanced enough (yet)). At the end I'd like to play the lead part of the theme with the computer playing the other parts of the arrangement (e.g. parts 2-5)followed by the accompaniment for improvisation and eventually back to the theme.

best regards
