GF and I went to Andersonville, Georgia, site of the infamous Confederate POW camp on Saturday. We were surprised to discover that it is also the site of the National POW Museum and of a national cemetery that is still active (and available to veterans). We were somewhat disappointed at the lack of material regarding Andersonville itself, but there was a CD-guided driving tour which covered a great deal of subject matter. All very moving. The 13,000-plus graves were all marked with American flags, which obviously took a tremendous amount of effort. We have no idea who was responsible for this; Andersonville is relatively remote in central Georgia.
