Am trying to make a simple lead sheet - chords and melody notes.
Most of the notes in the music are 8th notes. I'm getting triplets. I know it's just a simple matter, I did it recently when I was practicing and don't remember what I did.
My problem is that I'm new at this, have limited time, doing things in spurts; I don't have time to sit for hours and learn. That would be ideal.
I'd appreciate any help.

Perhaps the "Style" you've chosen is a "swing" style, shown in the Style Pick window as "sw" next to the style name.
If that's the case, then the "Editable Notation" window will show each 1/4 note with 3 vertical dashed lines. Then you'll get triplets when you enter the notes on each vertical line.
If you pick a style that's indicated as "even" (EV), then there will be 4 lines per 1/4 note. Entering a note on every other vertical line will give you 1/8 notes.
Let us know if that's not the problem and we can do some further explaining.

Even in swing mode, entering notes on the first and third line of each beat will give you straight eighth notes. Later, Ray

Hi clav, If you go to the following URL and scroll about two-thirds of the way down the page, you'll find a link under "Video Archives" to a video clip about entering notation. This is probably the easiest way to learn it. http://www.pgmusic.com/videos.bbwin.htmDon't worry that the video says 2004 because the notation entry is the same now as it was then. Regards, Noel
