I believe that a very good enhancement to BIAB would be to incorporate a way to slow down any mp3/wav files to facilitate studying difficult performances without exiting the application.
I enjoy Band-in-the-box very much. I use it to do jobs, to teach and to practice. Thank you for this great product.

Didn't there used to be a program called Slo-Wave or some such that shipped with BIAB? It was a great idea then--it's just as good now. There are other ways to do it, but it would certainly add value to BIAB as a teaching tool to incorporate it directly within the program.

The program was called Slow Blast. It was bundled with BIAB, so it was a separate program. The upgrade was Slow Gold, which is still on the market for $39.95.
And of course dedicated audio editing programs can adjust speed.
The OP requested this feature within BIAB, something it has not done.

If you have BIAB then you also have RealBand.
In Real Band you can import an MP3 or WAV file then play it back at 100% - 75% - 50% or 25% speed
I'm not at my music computer at the moment so I can't tell you the specific commands to get you there, but it's definitely possible in RB. I just used it the other day to loop thru the region of a song that contained the solo. At 75% speed looping thru the solo over and over you can learn a passage very easily.
Note: it doesn't change the pitch, just the speed
update: from RBs main dropdown menu, select ACTION > PLAY AT SPEED > then pick your speed

There is a very effective, inexpensive product called The Amazing Slow Downer, by Ronimusic. Roni is both a musician and a programmer. The advantage over RealBand is that RB could take a long time to make a single speed adjustment depending on how many audio tracks there are and whether or not they are stereo or mono. With Slow Downer, speed and pitch adjustments can be done on-the-fly and are instantaneous. It's a pleasure to use. Download a trial version at http://www.ronimusic.com/amsldowin.htmThere are sites that claim to give a free download. One of them is http://en.softonic.com/s/amazing-slow-downer-full-versionI cannot vouch for any of the sites offering a full version for free. Aleck

I bought Transcribe! a few years ago. It's great for slowing down tracks so you can catch notes that are hard to hear at normal speed. Later, Ray

Hi all,
I think you can already do this in BIAB. Try this and see if it works... Start a new song then from the menu bar select File --> Open Audio and load your audio file. Because it is an audio file the style will be disabled. When you hit Play you can then use the tempo up/down buttons to change the speed of the playback...the pitch remains the same. If you know the tempo of the song before hand you can set it before loading the song so it'll pretty much match the audio file.
Does this work for you?
