Hi, this is probably a question that has been asked but i couldn't thin of the correct terminology to do a search to find the answer so if someone knows where it it please send me there i am fine with reading.

I currently do all my BIAB on a pc, i have a Mac that i am switching all the music stuff to bit by bit.....for my question.

If i purchase a mac BIAB can i still use the arrangements i have done on the pc version with it or am i back at square one?

There's no right or wrong musically, just different interpretations.

Someone with a Mac should confirm this, but I think the BIAB song files play on PC or Mac platforms.

The Mac version of BIAB does not have quite all of the features. For that reason, some choose to run Parallels or equivalent and use the PC version of BIAB on their Mac; something to consider.

And if you decide to purchase the Mac version of BIAB, be sure to call PG Music and explain what you are doing. Might be worth it.

It might be a good idea to post this question in the BiaB for Mac forum -

You may get additional help there.

Hi,

The BIAB files themselves will work on either platform. That is, you can load your song files created on the PC version of BIAB into the MAC one with no problems. (I have converted myself).

Having said this, there still is a features mismatch between the PC and MAC versions, with the PC version being somewhat far ahead.

Having used both over the years, I have learned that the missing features on the MAC version do not present a sufficient problem for me to want to go back to using a PC. The only notable exception is RealBand - I would really like to have the MAC version for the precision editing and regeneration of the BIAB tracks it offers. Especially the ability to edit the tempo in minute fractions and to generate the BIAB tracks that follow the altered master tempo. Really important when trying to match the generated tracks with live recordings.

Regards,
Oleg.

I've never had BIAB on my PC due to my increased lack of interest in Windows. So having never had Realband I probably don't know what I'm missing...but I have found that Garageband (free with the Mac) is a fine DAW and PG Music provides a cool little interface for quickly getting regenerated tracks into GB. It all works well for me but I do tend toward relatively simply productions.
