In case anybody might find this information to be of interrest:
As part of my dayjob I just now installed the newly released Windows 8.1 x64 Preview Edition and just for the fun of it I installed BiaB 2013 and it installs and runs perfectly - just as I expected!
(This was installed in a Virtual Machine under VMWare Workstation and when it runs this well in a VM it'll run even better on a physical box!)

Good to know, and not unexpected.
Computer nerd here as well, from 1977. I have read that, if you install this Preview version of Windows 8.1, you cannot go back (uninstall it) and would have to reformat and start over, so use with caution.

I think I'll wait for the update that's coming. There were too many caveats involved with the preview version. Ray

If you want to play with Windows 8.1 (just to see what it looks like), I would suggest running it as a virtual machine. Both Oracle VM Virtualbox and VMWare Player are free. Install whichever virtual manager you want, download the Windows 8.1 ISO file, and then create the OS under the Virtual Machine manager and that way you can check it out. When you are done, you can just delete the VM and get your disk space back. Another advantage is that you can install it as a dynamically sized disk, so it only uses as much disk space as you need. Just a thought.

Good to hear that I'm not alone on the nerd-front  What John says is absolutely true. I install all new OS's as Virtual Machines, so I can experiment away as much as I like. I have a licensed VMWare Workstation, but the free VMWare Player will do you just as well, as long as you don't need the snapshot features, virtual Networks and all that. Anyway: It's good to see that BiaB Works as expected in Win8.1. Ole
