Just like any melody you come up with in your head. There is always the possibility that someone got there first. Sometimes those melodies come unconsciously from something we have heard before. So, MAYBE and MAYBE NOT. However, a lot will depend on the chord structure you choose for your song. It's a greater possibility that you might end up with "similar" or "close enough" melodies by different people using the same chord progression. Much more unlikely, however, with different chord progressions.
