WAV is uncompressed with exactly the same audio quality you hear when you hit play in Biab, WMA or MP3 are compressed with some loss of audio quality.

So, just use WAV right? Yes if you're not going to post your song on the internet to share like using Soundcloud or email it to a friend as an attachment. For those things you're forced to use a compressed format because WAV files are way too large for that. An uncompressed WAV could be 50-100mb while a WMA of the same song might be 5-7mb. You can email that but certainly cannot email 100mb. The tradeoff of course is audio quality and there's tons of discussions about picking the best compression scheme to both make the file small enough yet still sound good if not perfect.
