... It started when I began working on a cover of "I'm gonna live the life I sing about in my Song" < how ironic..>.... Jazzmandan: Love the song. Have you finished it? can we hear it? don s. Thanks for asking. Actually I made the BIAB tracks at the request of a friend who has a friend and they wanted to do the song. They want to add guitar and vocals. This is the song/version which started it all. Sorry I don't know the performer. I'm Gonna Live the Life I Sing About in my Song - Artist ? This is the best I could do directly in BIAB. If you know the song well you noticed this version switches things up a bit. It has a very bluesy shuffle to it which I was not able to capture real well in BIAB, but came as close as I could. I'm Gonna Live the Life I Sing About in my Song - BIAB If they like it, I will be hearing the results soon and will send you a link via PM.

Thanks Dan. I learned the song about 60 years ago, without the blues effect. However, I like that effect.
I trust that it works out well for you and the unknown singer, who has some pretty good chops.

If they like it, I will be hearing the results soon and will send you a link via PM. They liked it and recorded guitar and vocals against the BIAB backing track. I just heard the raw mix and it gave me goose bumps!! I talked with my buddy doing the mixing and mastering and told him he has a diamond in the rough and to not mess it up. hehe, ...now I can put the pressure on him.

GOOD live music is better....for the audience. Not necessarily for the players. Ever since I discovered BIAB years ago, I’ve encouraged other musicians to check it out and I’ll continue to do so. Even though I’ve programmed a ton of songs into BIAB, playing along with the PC doesn’t even begin to approximate playing with live musicians and the sound and feeling you get when the musicians actually “feed” off each others playing. I’ll gladly take a single mandolin player backing me up over a 5 piece all star computerized back up band. But that’s just one mans opinion. Bob I am in agreement until you add a hundred or so people into the equation, and they are digging what you are playing(along with a computer)then I quickly forget about that single "anything" player backing me. Of course just another opinion. Later,

a couple of weeks I also realised that I spent more time fiddling with BIAB to get the f5 nuances "programmed" in to get the song perfect that actually playing ....
I actually got out of practise , especially my SAX ....
Make no mistake ... I love BIAB but at some stage I have to get on with playing and not just software-ing (if there is such a word)
And because of that I quickly learned that (other than putting together a playlist for an upcoming gig) I always, always have my guitar on my knee when I turn on BIAB. I've said this many times, no doubt my mind that BIAB has made me a better musician then I was before BIAB. Later,

Dan,
Yes this is a great song, great find on your part.
One question in listening to the unknown artist version it sounds like it is in a minor key FM I think, did you change the key to Bb for any specific reason? Just curious . . . Thanks.

Later, The original mp3 is in F. The BIAB file may have been in Bb as I was playing around with where I would sing it - but then I sent it on. Otherwise, I guess since it is a 16 bar blues tune with the groove generally over a 1, 4, 5 it does evoke the minor sound, but with the exception of a dim7 chord there are no minor chords that I hear. But remember, getting the right chords was my initial problem which started this tread. I thought I got them right. So do you hear minor chords in the mp3? Want to take a stab at revising the BIAB file to reflect what you are hearing?? Every day is a school day for me! Thanks for listening.

I substituted minor for major in the first 9 bars (intro and first phrase) and it seemed to work. Definitely sadder. However, after that the uplifting with the major chords- sounded right. And from then on it seemed to be OK as-is with the major chords. By the second 16 bar verse the minor sound didn't seem to work. At the start of this tread I indicated how humbling music is when you have to admit your limitations. Seems to be getting dark again...

Sorry I don't know the performer. Just for the record, this would be our songbird in the mp3 which I included above. http://ashleycleveland.com/
