Yea, I know but I try!!!

I like my boot drive lean and mean, even though it's 2TB's.

I'd LOVE to go solid state but I have so many apps (besides music related I have a lot of specialized math, stats, graphical, numerical, and other analysis and programming/compiler packages, company proprietary SW, multiple peripherals - scanners, printers, and "other" things). And yes, my bad, I also play games (e.g., Steam account) and a lot of thes apps INSISTS on installing all, if not most all, of themselves on the C:\ drive.

My C drive is just over 400GB's and that's with a LOT of "hacking" on my part to get, and keep, stuff OFF of the C drive - so until prices come down a LOT on SDDs I'll be using large HDD's.

IMHO - the load on the C drive has worsened with EACH MS OS release.

Going from Win 3.1 - where configs and ini's were in the owning applications directory NO MATTER where you had them D:\, E:\, … so you could spread the load as it were. Then Win 95 and beyond added to the "let's try and keep track of everything in one place with "registries" (that grow and become bloated).. The real "let's pull the plug on this puppies respiratory" came with Win Vista and beyond insisting that apps install in the C:\ Program Files (x86) and/or C:\Programs Files - actually bloats the hell out of the poor little 'ol C drive - even if work files are keep on other drives.

Yes, I know there are suppose to be "pluses" to this approach - but just going from XP 32 to Win 7 64 has caused me MORE MX, not less, (I will be skipping Win 8 altogether - just like I skipped Vista and ME).
