Don't start trying to Biab as a midi file player, you'll confuse and frustrate yourself. Been there, done that. The problem is so many files you find and download from the internet are not "standard" at all. You need to play midi files in a dedicated sequencer like Real Band, Sonar, Reaper, whatever. You may have say 10 files that are in fact SMF's in that they are GM files, they don't have strange program changes or other CC's in them and they play fine on your system. Then you find a song you've been looking for, load it up and the sounds are all over the place. That one was created using a non-GM synth, maybe there's a bunch of sysex info in it to control a particular piece of hardware like a Korg or Roland and it doesn't match what you're using. There are ways to modify that file so it does play on your system but again, you have to use a full sequencer for that, not Biab. The key here is most of the time problems are caused by commands that are imbedded in the midi itself, not on your system.
