Hi,
You can get your audio (the singing or playing) track to double (or more) if you do the following:
I had sung my vocal into Band in a Box in the Audio track and wanted to add little bits of backing singers to it. So.. after saving the song file, I went into windows and found the file for the Audio, I renamed it with f.ex My Song soloist. It will then show up in your soloist track allowing you to record a new Audio track without having to overdub. Very neat trick.
Regards George
P.S. You can't use move track as the audio track doesn't show up.

George,
Some questions about your tip.
Does a Band-In-A-Box created audio file always have the same default name or will the name change with each project or song?
Assuming the BIAB created audio file is named "audio.wav" for PC or "audio.aiff" for Macintosh, will the filename need to be changed to "soloist.wav" for PC or "soloist.aiff" for Macintosh?
Will the audio file "automatically" show-up in the soloist track or will it have to be imported?

Hi Jim, Does a Band-In-A-Box created audio file always have the same default name or will the name change with each project or song? On the PC (I only have the PC version) the Audio file will be changed to the same name as your song file as long as you SAVE the Song File after recording the audio. The Audio file will change with each Project or Song as long as the above is adhered to. Assuming the BIAB created audio file is named "audio.wav" for PC or "audio.aiff" for Macintosh, will the filename need to be changed to "soloist.wav" for PC or "soloist.aiff" for Macintosh The Audio file should be changed to - for example - Same Old Road Soloist where Same Old Road is your song file name. Note: On my PC I have the file extensions hidden. I tried at first Same Old Road Soloist .wav This did not work. When I dropped the Wav extension it then worked and Band in a Box loaded it automatically when the song was played. I can't give any info on the Mac except to try it and see. Hope this helps. George

Uh, Jim, there IS no audio track in BIAB for Mac.. so I don't see how this could work with Mac version.

I just found out that when you change a Vocal or Audio (i.e. guitar) to - for example - My Song Soloist, you have to press the Gen/Play button Not the Play button to hear it in the song (it shows up but is silent when you only use the play button.
After you have done this once you will hear it in the song even when you press the Play button).

George and Babarton, Thanks for your answers. Babarton, like George I use the Windows version so I was not aware the Mac version does not support using audio tracks. George, in a way, your discovery about having to use the Gen/Play button makes sense. I guess the program may "see" the wave file but the file may not be associated with the song until all the song pointers are updated. I've been reading through the 2013 BIAB user manual pdf file on an eReader in my free moments and came across a short passage describing this feature today. FYI, I'm on page 214 of the 616 page manual so I have ONLY 404 more pages to go! Then I can start on the 2012.5 RB user manual!

If you read the whole BiaB manual, you'll have one up on me.
I look at it more as a reference; use when needed. Never thought of it as a training manual. Hope you finish it. Wonder how many others have read the whole thing..
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

I can now say I've read it, but no way, shape or form can I say I understand or remember all of it. Now I'm working on the 2012.5 RealBand manual. In some ways it's a better read as it doesn't repeat as much but, there's a lot of information that's over my head.
My goal is to at least remember I've seen something before so I can find it easier when I need to and learn some of the terminology I don't understand.
