Here is a song recorded from scratch, no styles were harmed in this production. Got the chords from the Chord Wizard, laid em out and punched the record button on the ol keyboard. The drums are subbed in from Biab. Harms are me and the TC together. Lets Fall In Love Again Thanks for the listen, Trax

Up to your usual excellent standards, Eddie. Sweet! I always wonder how you get TC Helicon to perform so well...
Nice work on the high notes - this is as far into the upper range as I've ever heard you go - still solid.

Trax;
I can't say enough. That song was very commercial. You have a very clear, great tone to your voice. (lucky you). Was that you on guitar? And the harmonies, and the mix. A 10! I am excited to hear what you are able to get out of the TC. I have heard some negative about it, and judging from what I have been able to get out of it, I was starting to believe it. But I can see it must all be technique. Noel and I had a thread about it, and He seemed to do well with TC also. If you have time, would you post how you did the harmonies, and how you set it all? I would love to print it out for reference, so I can try to get some good results. I don't think I have heard your other songs, but this one is one of the best I have heard on here, for sure.
Thank you, Gene

Thanks for listening folks. There are some klunker notes in there, LOL Great to see you guys again. I had fun, thats what its about. 3rds- The TC works best with a clean, in-tune (I tried) dry (mono) vocal track to work with. In the TC set up, I use 'follow chords' as the generator method. Since I was working with audio tracks, I just typed in the chords where I wanted the harmonies generated in the PT chord view. Since the end repeats, I alternated between 2dn 1up & 1dn 2up on every other "Lets Fall In Love" part. I also added pushes to some of the typed in chords. I think that is where the early harmony change comes from. The harms sound robotic by themselves. Ya gotta add at least one track of singing with them to help em in the mix. I generated each harmony to its own track. Then I applied the background singer TGS DX setting and adjusted accordingly to what i thought sounded ok. Then ya bury em in the mix. Oh yeah, the guitar is me attempting to play a lead guitar with my keyboard Thanks again for the listen and comments folks. I appreciate it. Trax

First class there, Trax! Beautiful melody lines, stunning vox and the whole tihng superbly put together. I can hear Styxx, Foreigner, etc. covering that one! Now how do they do those endings again? Ah yes, full stop/huge toms fill/gear change up a whole tone/last chorus! John

Very strong, keyboard based power ballad! As a guitarist, I would have enjoyed some rhythym guitar, maybe a few power chords where fitting, and a stronger, more punchy guitar solo. Those are just my power ballad preferences. I might have enjoyed a bit of vocal vibrato in a few key places as well. Nonetheless, for a quick study recording, it's altogether pretty amazing.

I loved the song. Great mix and great vocal. I have one small suggestion. I took a composition course once and the teacher would to go over my melodies and tell me to keep them flowing (not to jump all over). He would make us do a graph of our melodies and if they looked like arches that was good. If they looked like steep hills that was bad.
I was thinking of the first line of your chorus. It jumps around a lot. Maybe you could make it better by tightening up the melody line ie- you could just go up one note on that last note of the first line instead of going down a third etc.
Not to take anything away from the song it is very well done.
This has the potential to be a great song.

Excellent work. Very impressive. It sounds like this one is ready to go from what I could hear. What are you doing with it?

Eddie,
You have done it again, beautiful throughout. The only nitpick I'd have would be the guitar solo, I'd have it make a stronger statement, i.e. as it comes in BAM! Also maybe again on the outtro I'd bring it up a bit more and match the volume of your harmonies as you are going out singing "Lets fall in loooooove", "Lets fall in loooooove" etc. etc.
Big tune, big performance . . . I loved it man!

Amazing,I can't think of any superlative strong enough to say how much I enjoyed this song.
I could hear the overdriven power chords in my head, they would fit perfectly but that's no criticism, just me being picky.
Hope you do some more,soon.
Alan

I did not write this song, it is a cover of one of Bob Carlisle's (Butterfly Kisses) songs when he was in a group called Allies. Bob did alot of background vocals back in the day for many 80's bands. Mr Mr, Toto are the ones I know of, but he did many more. Butterfly Kisses put him on the map, so to speak. If you like Journey & Styxx, you would like Allies. They were a Christian band in the 80-90's.
He has put out several solo albumns since. He also has a Masters in Music as well. He writes and produces his songs. One Allies albumn was made in an ordinary tract home garage, locally here.
This song is circa 1986, I think.
His voice resembles Steve Perry, alot. I prefer his over Perry's, and we all know what a great voice Perry has.
I actually had to lower this song a few steps for my range. He does it in a higher key.
Melody- I was probably all over the place in the verses, his is obviously solid. His harmonies and arrangement is unbelievably perfect.
Guitar- I didn't have anything in that 8 bar section, so I fumbled with an attempt of a lead. WYSIWG, LOL
I tried to give it that 80's retro sound with the E Piano & E Drums.
Mac always said to find a CD you like and try to emulate it, that is what I did here. Tried.
I used a final Master Compressor setting on the final mix. The Strings and Flute have more punch in the uncompressed mix. The compressor must have lowered it in the final mix.
Thanks for listening everyone, I appreciate it. I definitely hear the klunker notes with fresh ears today.
Thanks again,
Trax

Trax,
very nice tune, I liked the song and the arrangement but the vocals were excellent. With a voice like yours, I'm surprised that you're using the TC. very well done!
