I am having a problem with BIAB 2013. Often during playback, the audio output will drop out (go silent for several bars) and come back on a little later. Since I need to use BIAB for gigs occasionally, this is a serious problem for me. How can this problem be fixed ??

Hi Oldtimer,

This may or may not be a computer problem. To help identify this could you please give us a little insight into the following.

1) What are the specifications of your computer (e.g. CPU speed, memory, etc.)?

2)What operating system are you running?

3) Are you using the MME or ASIO audio driver with BIAB?

4) Do you have an external sound source plugged in to your computer and BIAB?

Regards,
Noel

In addition to what Noel said, I have a few questions.

Is this a laptop?

If you reboot, does the problem go away?

Does it happen on all songs?

Have you tried Opt., Preferences, Return to Factory Settings?

Are you running a virus/malware program?

Also, two suggestions you can try that may help diagnose the cause:

1. Download and run the free DPC Latency Checker and see if it says you are OK for digital audio.

2. Download Geekbench and report your score. We may need to discuss some settings in Preferences, RealTracks if you have a slower computer.

I had something similar happen last week. The Piano part quit playing. Any song I would try to play, whatever was on the piano track was silent. Restarting didn't help. I ran the BIAB installer and reinstalled only BIAB and all was fine. Could be something in your installation is corrupt and causing your problem.

Although I think BIAB is a great program, I think it's too slow for live gigs. I use the save as WAV file feature and use the WAV's for live performance.

Ditto,

I have not had this problem but using a computer for a live show running a DAW or BB software is a risky thing IMHO.

I know of several "bands" I have seen who did run live in that manner. However, I would seriously opt for the waves in a folder since the computer is less likely to choke while processing a single wave than it is trying to run a DAW or BB.

Loading some of the RT songs on the laptop takes a bit of time..... 10 seconds or so.... whereas the wave is ready to rock instantly in the music player of choice.

A buddy uses his lappy for live gigs and has hundreds of songs in it. He uses the standard default music player and has things arranged in an orderly manner in folders so he can find songs that the audience requests.
