Absolutely!

If we are going to perform it - and a recording is indeed a performance, one in which there will exist a permanent record of the performance - we should do whatever it takes to first KNOW it!

True...but most of use use various rhythm section sidemen from one gig to the other. Just last week we had a reqest for Stormy Monday.

I asked our keyboard player if he had a chart (he didn't) so we just rolled it out. After the gig, the bass player asked why I wanted a chart since he'd played it the same way for decades.

I told him that T-Bone played it SEVERAL different ways himself...and because the Allman Bros version (which the vast majority of today's audiences are more familiar with) played it differently than T-Bone did.

Hey...we got away with it...but it wasn't tight...hence my query about a chart.

(-:

But back to my basic question. If, for whatever reason, we elect to simply unfold the song and not use repeats, 1st/2nd endings...tags etc. will the song print exactly like it appears in the software...say...with all 60 bars if a 12 bar form unfolds to 5X through?

Thanks!
Jim
