well that would be the method I would take.

However, unless the "solo" is a "signature fill" I would not use the same solo twice. A signature fill is something like the musical hook in the song that instantly identifies the song... such as the sax fill in Baker Street

I generally render everything to audio and move it to my DAW. Once there and the DAW is synced to the same tempo, editing the audio in this manner is a simple job. Mostly though, I don't want to use that same fill twice in a tune.
