With this post coupled with the one where you talk about actual earnings from the site, I can see why you might want to have an exclusive show-time. For a person that's a regular listener on the site, then I can see where your exclusive time might be worthwhile to attract that type of viewer that is there simply to listen to "what's live now?".

The folks that I know that use ustream do it simply to provide a more intimate connection with their existing fan-base; I don't know if there's a pay-in option for viewers or not. They use it more as a sort of 'live YouTube' with links to their merch and so forth. I have to admit, the main guy I'm talking about has gone absolutely viral with ridiculous numbers of YouTube subscribers. He signed with Sony earlier this year. Just a few years ago, he was the 2nd guitarist in the worship team at our church. So his gig is kind of different in how he uses online streaming.
