Start with those all-important Shells and Tritones, branch out from there, try adding the 9th to 'em where appropriate. At any rate, avoid the closed triad stuff and certainly avoid playing the 5 in the chord the greater majority of the time.

Playing on every beat is also known as "Four to the Floor" in some circles.

But learning to hit on those all-important "Ands" is key.

That's one issue I have with BIAB midi patterns btw. The fifth is usually present in the piano part, no doubt due to the need to support raised and flatted fifth chord spellings.
