Yes Cool Edit 2000 works well also.
Just a little trick I used in desperation once. May be usefull.
I recorded a Steel Player and discovered after the fact that his volume pedal was scratchy. As you know a Steel Player uses that pedal A LOT. I could not for the life of me find a section with just noise to sample. I sat there thinking and looked down at an old Pioneer receiver that i was about to refurbish. Needed new bulbs, a good cleaning and all of the pots were dirty and scratchy. I hooked her up and recorded me moving the pots around. I used that as my sample and applied the tool to the Steel and Voila.
