Hi Mac, Thanks for the tip. That works! Still makes me wonder, though, because the Sound Brush plays type 1 files, just not BIAB type 1 midi files. There's something extra in there that causes the problem, that Cakewalk disposes of. Oh, well, at least I have a workaround now. Thanks again, Mac. That'll save me some time.  EP
