My first laptop, Toshiba Satellite C50-A series, I3 processor, 4GB, 750Gb hard drive. I have always used desktops, currently dell XPS I7, will I have problems running BB on the laptop? 2014 update coming soon, thanks for the input...........

Hi Critter

I can see no reason why there'll be any issues. According to PG Music, you'll be fine

It should be plenty of computer for BIAB. Just be aware that laptops generally will come with some power saving settings that could add a hiccup at times, like spinning down the hard drive after a set time, dimming the screen and other settings to extend the battery life. It might be worth poking around in the power settings program to see what else is set by default.
Good luck with it.

That's a good suggestion. It's about the only tweak I do to Windows 7 or 8 now. I set the power to always on 100% if not on the battery, then of course I don't use it on battery for recording.

By the way, if memory serves, Peter Gannon develops BIAB on a Mac laptop.

Thanks for the info, as of now I don't like the windows 8 layout but using the windows key and D gets me right where I like things, classic view. I will check into settings etc. Another question, the lappy came with a webroot disc, I loaded it and all is fine but Norton's did an upgrade, I didn't know it was on lappy, no conflicts but should I remove or disable one or the other even though there are no conflicts and all is fine? Best buy geek said they will run fine together, so far so good, input would be helpful, I know Webroot is for six months and I assume Norton's is also. Thanks

That should work out great. With 750 GB, you can easily put the entire BB Everything Pak installation on the hard drive and that would only use 10% of your HD.

Have Fun!

Windows 8.1 now allows booting to the desktop.

I have no knowledge of your other topic.

Critter, a Norton trial usually runs for 60 days. It really is best practice to run only one AV program at a time, even if there are no apparent conflicts.

FWIW, I run Avast on my 4 Gb Toshiba Satellite L305-S5937 Vista laptop, on which I have BIAB 2009, and Microsoft Essentials on my home brew Win 7 desktop DAW, which is currently running BIAB 2012.5. Both are very stable.
