My experience of midi files found on the net is that some work ok with BIAB, many do not.
It's quite possible that if the midi is simply a piano file, it's been recorded without any attention given to tempo. The person may well have just played freely to create the file.
To get a backing to match this, it's necessary to create a tempo map. If that's necessary, Realband is probably much more useful to work in.
