I couldn't help it, had to install W7 CR 64bit. Installed it on a computer without wirefire connection hence why I couldn't use my ASIO stand alone soundcard, so I had to use the MME drivers, with no luck - lacenty problems. Installed ASIO4ALL, couldn't make it work. Maybe buy a new 64bit asio soundcard card, then again, would it work with W7, that is, how long should one wait before a driver is developed. Lots of questions. Anyone else been tempted to install W7, and what is your 'story'?

LOL, Nope, not tempted.
I am running Windows XP Pro on my BIAB / workstation system. I see no reason to move beyond that. I run Vista on my development laptop as well as on my one Media Center PC. Both are rather a PITA to do stuff on. Constant barrage of issues from "can't see anything but the other Vista machines" to the steady stream of security crap.
I have nine PCs on my home / home office network, and the most stable by far are the Windows 2003 machines, both X32 (Windows Home Server) and X64 (two SQL Server 2005 servers). After that the four XP Pro systems are the easiest / most stable. Trailing far behind are the two Vista machines.
I used Vista for the Windows Media Center machine because WMC is built in to Vista, and it was in fact "plug and play" to get my TV tuner working etc. But it is still a PITA.
I put Vista on my Development machine first "because my clients were slowly going there" and so I use a Vista machine every day, but I still (two years later) HATE it! It is the most OBTUSE user interface I have seen since leaving DOS back in the 90s.
So nope, not tempted.
I will let the first service pack come and go (and get fixed - oh yea, that will be SP2) and then I will likely give it a go.

Ran the Beta for Win 7, very happy with it. No support for my sound card yet...not surprising, seeing it's still an RC. In fact, I have a game server running on the Beta now, it's stable and reliable, and really speeds up my old system over XP, but then again, I'm using the 64 bit version of it versus the 32 bit XP. I installed Win 7 32 bit on my laptop, and would have kept it there if there had been support for the ATI 9000 IGP video subsystem, but not even Vista has support for that...planned obsolescence, I guess...so I took it off. If it hadn't been for that drawback, not an issue of Win 7, but of Toshiba and other laptop manufacturers, I would have Win 7 on there. Win 7 will be going on a second partition on this computer as well, when I have the time to do it. This week has been a lot hectic for me, and we'll be looking for the driver updates as they come out. We're already seeing beta drivers for a lot of products out there. I have Vista 64 Ultimate on this machine, and am very happy with it. Yeah, there are some quirky things, but you get used to them. Oh yeah, you can turn the UAC OFF in Win 7, so you never see it. I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

I do not see the need to load an operating system that is not done yet and try to get any real work finished.
If someone wants to mess around with Win7 great, but never on a system that you need to rely on! Just my humble opinion!
