The other problem that can be making things go awry is the UAC. It can get set one way during the install of some part of the program and it screws things up. I played a midi file the other day outside of band in a box and I tried 20 things to get Band in a Box to behave. Turns out whatever was in that midi file would only clear the problem after a reboot. None of the other actions worked at all. I've had lots of weird problems relating to taking the external hard drive and moving it between systems, it expects to see certain device in certain places etc. Remember Band in a Box just sends the music, it's YOUR output devices that have to actually do the work.

I have 3 systems, one Dxi and mme (aspire netbook xp) , one with Ketron and usb sound to a Bose system (Vista 64) , and another with XP, external soundblaster and Dxi. All work fine, but don't plug stuff into different USB ports and move things around, that can cause all kinds of grief. Moving the USB drive from Vista to XP made life very very difficult, so I quit doing that.
