You can install 2014 right over 2013. A backup of the old version is created in the unlikely event you want to revert. Doing it this way preserves any user styles you may have created, plus any extras you may have such as bonus pacs from prior versions.
I have not attempted to install BIAB on a USB thumb drive. It would have to be a large one. There is no need to do so, as you are allowed 3 activations and can transfer activations to other machines. ok, didn't realize that about the 3 activations. and yes, i do have some other bonus paks i've purchased so a install over my 2013 is the way to go for me. thanks much!
