Generally, VXTi/DXi plugins render to audio/wave files without problems. I have experienced one problem where the Render was blank using the ASio driver for my Sound Card but did work with the WMA drivers.
For all external Synths using ports 1 to 16 you will need to record via the Soundcard. Some external syhths such as Sampletank have Plugin versions so that you can take your pick.
