I agree Kevin (except your recordings sound pretty good to me!) But so far, it seems to me that Sly has not made any purchases he is likely to regret (unless he used the rent money!) Getting BIAB is a no-brainer and IMHO, the Izotope Studio Bundle, at only $399, is also a no-brainer! Does he absolutely need either of these? Nope. But I seriously doubt that either one will get in the way of him making decent recordings even if he never uses their full potential.

One thing I overlooked is the fact that the Ozone/Nectar bundle is on sale right NOW for $399 through the end of the year. Regular price is $549. Sly is saving a bill and a half and he's taking a leap that even if he doesn't really understand all this right now he probably will in a few months but by then the price is back up to $549. Looking at it this way, it's not a bad idea. I'm one of those guys who likes to know how and why things work so I agree with the idea of learning how to chain the different PG plugs to create basically the same thing as the Ozone bundle. BUT, I can also see that's not for everybody and hitting a preset and liking the result is ok. Sly can always upgrade to a better mic if he starts being unhappy with his vocals. It does sound like a great deal and I have heard super things about Ozone. Sly just needs to leave it in the box until he can get a good mix without it (ha, ha).
