I endorse this idea, but isn't the real problem that these names are limited to the 8.3 convention? Hi Matt When 2013.5 didn't turn up, I was sure that at least some of the previous 12 months development time was being spent upgrading all those DOS legacy things, and that we were going to see no more 8.3 I think Poster Cerio also hinted on this recently in his post about the Style Picker Yes, the 8.3 thing is really way overdue - Style Picker, 8.3 naming convention, cryptic characters, etc etc.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
