I'm only covering this for completeness and I almost never run MIDI inputs into BIAB so not sure if this is only way.

First, if USB controller make sure it is plugged in and turned on BEFORE opening BIAB (or really any SW that looks to see what MIDI I/O is available).

Next in BIAB in "Opt. > MIDI/Audio driver setup" IN MIDI input devices make sure you select the USB MIDI controller/device or the actual MIDI port (if not USB device)

Then on the right hand side of the same window you have to UNCHECK the "Route MIDI Thru to MIDI Driver" - otherwise input MIDI data goes directly out to the selected MIDI Output Driver selected in the middle of this window -and BAIB never sees it.

Now things can get or be simple:

a). if willing to live with GS wavetable and DELAY from key strike to sound or

b). are going right back out to an actual HW synth of course then you would CHECK the "Route MIDI Thru to MIDI Driver" box mentioned above)

or hard(er) if you:

a). Want to use a VSTi or DXi softsynth and
b). Don't know how to use things like MIDIYoke or LoopBe or similar

Let us know exactly what sound source you are trying to trigger with you controller via BIAB (while using BIAB).
