Yeah, the key is having the Patches.bin turn up missing so RB uses the new Patches.ini to recompile it ..

I should have been more clear that the .bin file is what needs to get recreated. The rest of the dance is just to get RB to use our new .ini file when it creates the .bin file.
The .bin file is what RB actually uses 'under the hood'.

Our Patches.ini gets compiled into Patches.bin which Realband then uses for the patch list.

The .ini file is simply a text tool that allows us to manipulate what gets into the newly built .bin file. That is why the formatting of the .ini file is so important; it gets used to assemble a binary file used inside the program. Much like a .dll file in that it is a compiled binary 'helper' file used inside the application.
