It sounds like when you set up songs in 2012.5, you were using midi-based styles exclusively. These would suit you ideally given what you describe as your previous workflow.

As Rob points out, Realtrack files are audio and, because of this, do not directly convert to midi. Solidrock is also correct in that if a Realtrack has notation associated with it, that notation is, in fact, a midi file and can be used to generate midi. Not all RTs have notation.

To set up BIAB to use midi-based styles exclusively, go to Prefs (#1), select Realtracks (#2) and disable the auto substitute RTs for midi (#3).



With the above setting disabled, you'll be able to use midi only styles again and these will export fine into Sonar.

If you want midi drums, you'll need to go into "Prefs | Realdrums" and disable the auto-substitute there, too.
