Hi Graham, on that note, check the jazz real drums by Lewis Nash. Each RD has about 9 variations each, granted that the majority of them are using brushes, but some of them have a pretty good "random" snare fills and nice ride. Here's a description of one of them as an example:

07-a:Busy Ride with Snare : Snare plays on the eighth note before beat 3. The kick plays a double on beat 1 and the ride plays an aggressive swing 8th note pattern.,
07-b:SSTmRd

********
Playing a jazz swing pattern that includes variations only found at faster tempo. The A substyles are subdued and the B substyles are more agressive. here are 4 variations of A and B substyles which are comprised of the following Substyles.

i - Brushes with Snare Swirl

ii - Brushes with a Busy Snare and Swirl

iii - Ride and Hihat w/ ocassional snare

iv - Busy Ride with Busy Snare

v - HiHat and Snare

vi - SideStick, Tom and Ride

There might be more examples like this, I just made a quick research on this since I'm also interested in it. Check it out. I hope this helps.
