Mac, Those interested in writing songs and composing in general should get to know and love the classics. Totally agree. Some of the most beautiful melodies and harmonies around come from the classics and having an appreciate for them can only be beneficial for any musician. It's interesting but in my classroom, I often used to play adagio movements from the Baroque era (Bach, Vivaldi, etc.) and its effect on the classroom was noticeable. Students were generally quieter and, as a result, concentration improved. You've reminded me that I must go back to doing that again. Thank you for that. Noel
